Missouri American Water to upgrade old pipes in Creve Coeur city

American water utility company Missouri American Water has announced $2.2m investment to replace approximately 3,700ft of old pipes in the Creve Coeur, a city of St. Louis County.

The company said these measures are part of its initiative to replace the old pipes that are existing beyond their useful life across St. Louis County.

The new investment would be used to replace the old 20-inch main along Lindbergh Boulevard, which was installed in the 1920s, with the new 24-inch ductile iron main.

Missouri American Water president Debbie Dewey said: “Our customers depend on us to deliver safe, clean, and reliable drinking water, which is why these ongoing investments in our system are so critical.

“Planned pipe replacement allows us to improve area service and reliability so we can continue to meet the needs of our customers, both today and for generations to come.”

With the investment, the water utility company intends to improve the water service reliability, water delivery, fire protection services, among others.

The total restoration is expected to be completed by the fall of 2021.
